Becca's Blog: Summer Time

Since the summer is time away from teaching, apparently that means time away from blogging too. How is it so often when you have more time on your hands you get less done? Anyway, I am surprisingly quite ready for school to start again, especially to have a routine again. However, it truly has been a great summer!

Here is a recap of some the summer's events...

June

Say goodbye to lots of people, students and teachers :(
Travel to the states to visit friends and family
Be in my brother's wedding - It was a wonderful weekend of being with family and friends. The ceremony was beautiful (including the weather, which was surrounded by days of heat and intense storms). The whole day was very God honoring! I am so proud of my brother and thrilled to have an amazing new sister!

July

Coffee, Lunch, Dinner, bike rides, walks, pick up soccer games, swimming (with my cousins and their three little boys :)), coffee, lunch, dinner... Lots of getting together with friends, family, and supporters.
Trip to Champaign, IL (home of University of Illinois - GO ILLINI) to visit a supporting church and friends. I was so encouraged by the mission team at TCBC and had the extra blessing of getting to drive down there with one of my ICSV students who was back in the States!
Trip to Galena, Illinois - A little family getaway for a long weekend, which was a really nice way to end my time in America.

August

Arrive in Vienna! I was so glad to be back, but it's been weird to be here without school happening. With more time on my hands, it was fun to explore the city more, paint and decorate our apartment, get to know some of the new staff, etc, but it has also been harder then to be away from my family and friends. It seems like you do get less done with more time, but partly because you just want to hang out with people in that time, and who better than your family. So all that to say, I miss them, but am also thrilled to begin a new school year here!!
Trip to Croatia - My roommate and I went to Zagreb, Croatia for a couple days. While things did not go quite as expected (I was hoping for lots of relaxing time in nature - which was invaded by lots of other tourists or miscommunication about how to get to hiking trails - feel free to ask about the whole story sometime), it was still a fun adventure, new country, and good getaway. It seems that God is continually trying to teach me that life doesn't go as expected, including the school year ahead even though I have lots of expectations, and ultimately He needs to be my vision every step of the way!
