One of the joys of this winter was getting to be the assistant girl's basketball coach (which included being the team hair braider)! We competed in our final tournament in Vienna on Saturday. Here's how it went...
Game 1: Win!
Game 2: We lost by 3 points to International Christian School of Budapest - our girls gave their all, but their shots just didn't seem to fall.
Game 3: We played a team we were 2-1 against. We lost by 1 point!!! The girls were just so exhausted at this point.
Overall: Fourth Place
We were so close!! Our Seniors were quite disappointed, but they showed great leadership, competitiveness, and sportsmanship! I was very proud of them!
Here is a copy of the letter I wrote to the team for the yearbook...
Dear Girl’s Basketball Team,
It has been a joy and honor to be your coaches this season. Your team has been characterized by dedication, thoughtfulness, encouragement, enthusiasm, a positive attitude, and willingness to learn. We admired your unity and how you prayed for each other. You exemplified great sportsmanship and respectfulness with your coaches, your teammates, and other teams (which will always outlast statistics or number of wins). Some highlights from the season include our tournament in Salzburg, specifically worshipping the Lord together, several road trips to Bratislava, fun cheers, trees, and several close competitions. Especially in our close games, you showed great growth in passing, in your ability to adjust well, and your determination to give your all. We are proud of you, ultimately that you sought to bring honor to Jesus through the fun, challenges, and lessons learned th
rough the game of basketball.
