This year I had the privilege and major task of planning the high school graduation at our school. Fortunately, I was left with a wonderfully detailed checklist that started back in December! I was blessed to get to know the seniors more and be able to uniquely honor them through the ceremony. Since there were only 17 graduates, as each student came forward to receive their diploma, our principal shared the languages they speak, their involvements at ICSV, their future plans, a few adjectives as to how their classmates described them, and a verse specifically chosen for them by one of the teachers. What a special way to honor them! I enjoyed standing in the back and being silly as well as encouraging with them while they waited for their name to be called. There were songs, speeches, awards, and tears as these students, who have been a part of the ICSV family, head out all over the world.
One of my favorite parts about the planning was actually getting to interview each senior about their time at ICSV and their future plans. Some of their responses about how they'd describe our school were really neat...
- ICSV is one of
the best schools you could go to. The school gives first priority to God, and
nothing would work at the school without Him.
- It’s easy to
adjust to being new at ICSV because everyone is so accepting.
- An international
community where everyone is welcome to join, with Christian teachers that
support you and a staff that desires that you succeed in life.
- A very different
school with a peaceful climate and loving people.
